Find bugs, come up with suggestions
Anyone can do this. Please report bugs to the mailing lists (use
IlohaMail-users for stable branch, IlohaMail-testers for devel branch).
Also, please read
this FAQ on what to do if you find a bug.
If you would like to become a beta tester, please see
this FAQ.
Localization (Internationalization)
Translating IlohaMail should be fairly straight forward, in practically any language. There's virtually no coding required, except for the charset encoding engines, e.g. [lang/X-EUC-JP.inc]. For most languages, localization of the actual program shouldn't take more than a few hours. If you are interested in contributing a new language, please read this document first.
Art work
The current interface is text based, and although I happen to like the simplistic interface, most people probably prefer a little more eye-candy. If you're a graphic artist and would like to come up with "themes", that would be greatly appreciated.
IlohaMail already has features that allow you to change the colors of the background and text in the different panes, and replacing text-based links to images isn't very difficult either (at the moment, to do this, replace the strings defined in webmail/lang/$lang/ with IMG HTML tags). In future releases, I plan on making it possible to select "themes" indepent of the user's language. Such themes would incorporate colors (already possible), images/icons (currently doable), as well as CSS's (can't do yet) and background images (can't do yet either).
Documentation
A software product is only as good as it's documentation. There's very little documentation in the code it self, but I'm working on that. I need more help with the manual (which, at this point, is very sparse as well, in any language).
See the DocEngine for more information.
Coding...
If you have any ideas, feel free to post to the developer's mailing
list, and we'll go from there. If you have a patch you would like to
submit, please send it to the developer's mailing list as well. You may
also
post patches on SourceForge but please email the developer's mailing
list so we know it's there (official Patch Submission
Guidelines).
